(Starts Monday, September 23, 2019) What better way to prepare for years of public speaking than to practice each week in front of one’s own peers? Your child will be assigned one day each week to speak in front of the class on a topic of his/her choice. As we begin new themes, we may assign a specific topic. Each student will get one minute to share an item, experience, talent, etc. It’s great to practice at home so your child knows what he/she wants to say and includes as many details as possible. The other students will be able to ask two questions to promote listening skills and engagement.
Possible topics include, but are not limited to: a book your child is reading or has read, a favorite picture, a musical piece, artwork, a trophy, medals, or a demonstration.
**Please ENCOURAGE VARIETY!! After all, it is the spice of life! You will find this program to be hugely successful in bringing a shy child out of his/her shell and giving an already confident child the tools to organize his/her thoughts, sometimes on the spot.
